On my way up to Puerto Galera form San Jose Mindoro, I stopped for the night in Calapan. I stayed at the Don Amando Inn. The Inn is right near the old mail plaza off on a side street where it is nice and quiet.
For food, it’s easy to walk over the bridge to the other part of town and get some food. The town market is there and this is the place to also get a Jeepney or van for a ride to Puerto Galera.
The host was Jade Dexter Dela Cruz. Jade was a very gracious host and helped to make sure I was settled in ok.
I stayed in a nice air conditioned room for 800 pesos. The Inn is clean and safe and I would recommend it as a place to stay if you pass through Calapan.
One good thing I liked about the Inn is that it was very quiet at night. The only minor inconvenience was that the bathrooms and showers are downstairs but it is worth it as this was a very nice place to stay the night.
Here is a picture of the Calapan firetruck parked outside the fire station in town.
